LCCC Self-Support Workshop Weekend Class II-II+

Trip Coordinator: Bruce Eicher

Saturday, June 29 - Sunday, June 30

Join a few seasoned multi-day paddlers on a two day one night self-support paddle. This two day workshop will focus on key elements to make overnight river trips safe, comfortable and fun! We will first prep you ahead of time on what gear to bring, what to leave at home, food and water handling, and how to pack it.

We hope to see examples of Canoes, Hardshell Kayaks, IK’s and packrafts. Time will be spent to make sure you are well balanced and able to control your boat once loaded. Then we’re off for a class II-II+ paddle for the day. Bonus points for every practice roll or self recue made as we head to camp. After a good night’s sleep we will eat, pack it up again, paddle to our takeout and drive home happy!

On the river and at camp we will “leave no trace”. These practices include camp setup, camp fire and cooking, human waste, respect of nature, and garbage handling.

This workshop is a planned lead-in to prepare a great crew for the LCCC three day, three night trip on the Wild and Scenic Rogue River in October.

The trip location will be on the McKenzie River. It has been decided to combine this workshop with the McKenzie campout, to take advantage of the consistent flow of the river and the pre-arranged camping at Paradise. Thank you Mike Duncan for hosting us.
